Press Release Magic

Written by Carolyn Shelby

Witness the power of my pen keyboard.

If you ever wondered how much exposure you can generate for your business or web site by issuing a press release, here are some stats from a recent piece I wrote about ethical search engine optimization for SEOFox.

I got the request last Thursday (January 4th), at like 9ish in the evening and the final draft went out on PRWeb.com at midnight that same night (officially Friday, January 5th).

As of Monday, January 8th, PRWeb is reporting just shy of 100,000 reads (from distribution points they have the ability to track) and slightly more than 800 consumer/media “pickups”.

Also, while I know Alexa is highly subject to influence (and I’m sure it didn’t hurt that people who generally read SEO related press releases are webmasters who have the Alexa toolbar installed), it’s still neat to see this huge spike in traffic rank.

…and then this…

  1. Way to go girl you got talent. By the way I heard Tues or Weds best day for releases, have you heard anything like that? Now I’m gonna see if I can get the same results out of my release on the China Search Marketing Tour which by the way I think you should join. We’d love to have you along.

  2. Tues or Weds for online releases is what I’ve always heard is best as well.

There’s so much news on Monday that people just get overwhelmed by the quantity of stuff to sift through and give up before they’ve read everything.

I’ll see what I can do about going on the China Tour 🙂

  3. Nice work, Carolyn! It’s so crushing that you post something like this while you’re not taking on any more copywriting projects… 🙁 Let me know when your schedule frees up, and until then best of luck with all of your efforts!
